A suspect accused of abducting and murdering three young girls from Je Yang Refugee Camp, near Laiza, a territory controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), was officially indicted at the Laiza Supreme Court on March 21, according to a source who wants to stay anonymous.
The suspect, U Ung Sau Doi Aung, was arrested on February 25 and subsequently appeared in court for hearings on March 17 and 18, where he confessed to committing the crime.
Further investigations were conducted on March 20, leading to the official indictment on March 21. However, authorities have restricted public access to information regarding the specific charges and legal provisions under which the suspect was indicted, limiting the details that Pajau Media can report.
Additionally, the suspect has only admitted to committing the crime himself but has not disclosed any involvement of other individuals. As a result, ongoing investigations are being conducted, and the court has scheduled further hearings following the indictment.
A local resident commented on the complexity of the case, stating, "The details surrounding this case are extremely complicated, making the investigation very challenging. However, authorities are making efforts to uncover the full truth. The suspect has admitted to his actions, but no matter how he is questioned, he has yet to reveal any information about potential accomplices."
Currently, U Ung Sau Doi Aung is being held in Laiza Prison while further interrogations and investigations continue regarding the case.
The crime occurred on February 22, when three young girls, around ten years old, who had visited the suspect’s wife, were abducted and murdered. The suspect was arrested three days later, on February 25.
