Local residents report that the SAC is providing military training to ward administrators at the Northern Military Command in Myitkyina, Kachin State.
According to locals, the SAC's stated purpose for training ward administrators is to enhance the security of their wards.
In recent days, SAC forces have also been recruiting youths from KTV lounges and nightclubs, while imposing taxes and conducting interrogations at checkpoints on the city's outskirts.
Since September 11, SAC forces have increased their presence in Myitkyina, frequently stopping and questioning pedestrians. At night, drones are reportedly used for surveillance, and random areas have occasionally been hit by heavy artillery fire.
On September 11, an SAC unit of around 30 soldiers entered Nawng Nang village (10 miles away) and conducted interrogations. Additionally, they collected 10,000 kyats per motorcycle at the Lamung Zup bridge on the Sumprabum road, which leads to Myitsone, the confluence of the MayHka and MaliHka rivers.
The areas where SAC military activity has intensified include PaLaNa, NamJin, ShweZet, MangHkring, and the Sumprabum road leading to Myitsone. Locals also report ongoing military reinforcements at the SAC’s Myitsone Tang Hpre base.
