A fire incident occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m. on December 10 in Kyar Ra Pati (A) Ward, Myitkyina, resulting in the destruction of two houses.
Local residents report that the fire originated in the basement of the house as a result of an electrical wire malfunction, occurring while the family was asleep. The homeowners stated that, due to the sudden outbreak of the fire, the family was forced to escape for their lives without retrieving any personal belongings.
The fire resulted in the destruction of a battery-operated motorcycle belonging to the owner, a refrigerator, another battery-operated motorcycle from the neighboring residence, a super cub, and all personal possessions within the house. Additionally, the neighboring house was consumed by the flames, as the owners had gone to their farm for the night, leaving the property unattended and preventing them from salvaging any of their belongings.
The fire ignited in the morning and was detected only after significant damage had occurred, rendering it impossible to extinguish. Eventually, the flames extinguished themselves, allowing the local community to assist in the cleanup efforts. The church has assumed responsibility for the affected residents and is making arrangements to construct temporary housing for them. At present, there is an urgent need for food, household supplies, and clothing.
