Two Men Killed in Artillery Shell Explosion Near Mali Hka Civil Servant Housing in Myitkyina’s Thida Neighborhood

In Myitkyina, Kachin State, an artillery shell explosion occurred late last night around 12 a.m. in the Thida neighborhood, killing two men and injuring another, according to sources.

“When we went to check this morning, we didn’t find any fragments of the shell, but there was a crater left in the middle of the road from the explosion. Nearby another civil servant housing were also slightly damaged,” a local resident from Myitkyina said.

The explosion took place in an alley near the Mali Hka civil servant housing in the Thida neighborhood.

The blast resulted in the deaths of two men and left one woman injured. Following the incident, State Administration Council personnel arrived to inspect the scene and reported that no remaining fragments of the heavy weaponry were found.

Additionally, continuous sounds of heavy weapon fire have been reported in Myitkyina and Waingmaw towns since the morning of April 25.
