There Were More Than 3 Robbery Incidents In A Ward Which Is Located In Myitkyina Town Within A Week

As reported by the Mang Hkring local residents, a woman who came back from the hospital with a motorbike was threatened and robbed by three men holding knives in Mang Hkring Ward, Kachin State.

It is stated that a woman in motorbike who came back from the hospital approximately at 3:30 PM on 5th September was threatened with knives and robbed by three men at a bridge in Mang Hkring Ward.

According to a local from Mang Hkring Ward, “Her son was fainted because of a high fever. When he was in his conscious his mother and the kid went to the hospital to receive medical treatment. The doctors and nurses from the hospital told them to bring the essential stuffs for hospitalizing. So, they went back to their home to bring the stuffs and they were robbed by three men with knives at a bridge which is located on the way back home. They threatened the woman to give motorbike and they said if she don’t give them the motorbike, they are going to stab the woman with knives. So, the woman gave them a motorbike and went back home on foot.”

It is reported that the woman had to give her motorbike because of the threatening and it was the only motorbike which she had got. In addition, at the present the woman is facing difficulties due to her son illness who need to receive medical treatment at the hospital and her losing motorbike.

It is noteworthy that, even though there were more than 3 robbery incidents in Mang Hkring Ward within a month, the perpetrators of the crime have never been arrested or caught. For this reason, the locals are insisting the relevant officials to take action on the aforementioned incidents to reduce crimes in the areas.

It is also known that there are several theft and robbery incidents happening in Myitkyina after the media/news blackout by cutting off the phone signals and the internet connection in the region. Additionally, there might also be cases which are beyond discernment.

Similarly, the theft, murder, robber, drug dealing and using cases are widely discovered in Myitkyina region after the coup in 2021 and there aren’t any actions taken by the relevant officials on the aforementioned cases. Moreover, it is said that the laws are taken by some officials into their own hands.
