As winter draws near, individuals escaping the conflict continue to require blankets and warm clothing at the Hpung Ngai Yang IDP camp located near SumPra Bum.
Those escaping the war carried with them merely a single article of clothing. Furthermore, as the armed conflict escalated, returning to retrieve their possessions became impossible. Consequently, these individuals were compelled to confront the winter season with only a single, thin blanket.
An evacuee reported, "We are unable to take any belongings with us during the evacuation. At present, each individual possesses only a thin blanket. Numerous internally displaced persons lack sufficient blankets. Furthermore, there are both children and adults suffering from illness in the IDP camp as a result of the weather changes."
The recent escalation of conflict has led to a rise in the number of individuals seeking refuge from the war, coinciding with a diminishing availability of assistance. Consequently, it has become increasingly challenging for the residents of Sum Pi Yang, who have been displaced to the Hpung Ngai Yang IDP camps for six months, to return to their homes, particularly as hostilities have intensified along the Putao highway.
The presence of SAC forces in Sum Pi Yang Village, coupled with the frequent heavy artillery fire in the surrounding area, has made it challenging for residents to return to their homes. Over time, several houses have been damaged, and the livestock left by the locals have been killed and consumed by the SAC.
As reported by the internally displaced persons (IDPs), over a thousand individuals from the villages of Sum Pi Yang, N Si Yang, and Wadat have been residing in the Hpung Ngai Yang IDP camp since May 11th. Furthermore, all IDPs are presently in urgent need of assistance in acquiring winter supplies.
