According to Data For Myanmar, there have been more than 100,000 residentials which burnt and destroyed by the SAC forces and its subordinate armed-forces during over 3 years of the military coup in Myanmar.
It is also known that 2,111 residentials were destroyed by the SAC and its subordinated armed-forces in 2021. Moreover 46,856 residentials in 2022, 31,484 residentials in 2023 and 21,012 residentials by the end of July 2024 were burnt down and destroyed by the SAC and the armed-forces under the SAC. Looking at the state of damage by month, December 2022 was the year in which most houses were damaged and it was known that 10,562 houses were destroyed in the aforementioned month.
On a national scale, Sagaing region is the region where residentials were burnt down and destroyed the most and the worst. In addition, it is stated the residentials’ destruction is up to 72 percent more than other regions.
Until now, the clashes between the SAC forces and the anti-coup armed forces continue to be fierce. The SAC forces and its subordinate armed-forces continue to burn and destroy civilian homes, as well as the towns and villages that are clashing for the takeover of the cities. Additionally, the villages that support the anti-coup armed forces are also burnt down and destroyed by the SAC forces.
According to Data for Myanmar, there have been security, economic and social damages of local residents when their homes were burnt down and destroyed. Furthermore, it is said that some local residents have not been able to return to their homes and are still evacuating to safety due to the intensified armed-clashes.
