Residents report that although the conflict between the two-armed forces in Bhamo was fierce, the SAC refrained from direct engagement in ground skirmishes. Instead, they resorted to airstrikes targeting civilian areas indiscriminately, leading to a significant number of casualties.

On February 23, at 11:20 p.m., a SAC jet released two bombs over Go Ngu Yang village in Mansi Township. One of the bombs detonated upon impact, whereas the other did not explode, resulting in no reported casualties.

“Individuals from Go Ngu Yang have only recently come back from the conflict. They experienced another bombardment last night, which caused me considerable fear. There were no skirmishes reported, and no armed forces were present in the villages, apart from the local residents. One of the bombs detonated, but fortunately, there were no consequences. The other bomb failed to detonate,” as stated by a local resident.

On the evening of February 21, two civilians lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries when the Y-12 aircraft of the SAC dropped four bombs over Mantha Village in Mansi Township, an area devoid of any ongoing conflict.

The individuals who lost their lives included 8-year-old Maung Ngwa Sar Lel and 20-year-old MaYar May Si. Among the injured were 8-year-old Ma Ngwa Ye Mi, 10-year-old Maung Lu Ka, and 27-year-old Daw Htun San Da.

On the same day, the Y-12 aircraft of the SAC carried out bombardments on Yay Lel village in the Bhamo region, resulting in injuries to three civilians. The injured individuals, identified as U Maung Chin, Daw Hlaing, and Daw Khin, are aged between 40 and 70 years. They are presently undergoing medical treatment at local hospitals.

The ongoing conflict between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the State Administration Council (SAC) forces in the Bhamo region remains severe. Local residents report that the SAC is employing aircraft and drones to target villages that are not engaged in armed confrontations, leading to numerous civilian casualties and significant damage to residential properties.
