The local residents are panicking due to reports that the unknown groups interrogated and abducted some of the young people this week in the areas known as ShweZet Ward and ShweZet road intersection according to a local residing in ShweZet Ward.
Within these days the local have to travel with caution in those areas because of the news that the unknown armed groups have been interrogating young people who were passing by around 9:00 PM.
In addition, news of high school students being abducted on campus and youth being abducted by unknown armed groups in front of the ManHkring Ward Parliament Office are also spreading these days.
Regarding to the news that the youths were abducted by unknown armed groups in front of MangHkring Ward Parliament Office, the locals answered “In MangHkring Ward, I haven’t heard anything yet. Eyewitnesses said that an unknown armed group of people interrogated and abducted some of them near the place where we sold food at night market near ShweZet road intersection. Some of them said they were U Shwe Min’s militia groups. I also heard that they entered Lisu houses and abducted them” a local said.
Moreover, a teacher who is close to the school said that the news about the army arresting students on the school campus is not true. “The news is false. Parents of the students have been calling us to ask and the students are also stop coming to school a lot these days.” said to Pajau media regarding the news of the students being arrested.
A resident who did not want to be named said, “There is no news that the students from the school have been arrested and taken away, neither at MangHkring School nor ShweZet School. I think it’s the case of B.E.H.S (3), the students from the army’s family and the students from Rampu were fighting each other and the students from Rampu Ward were being taken away by the army” he explained.
Due to the spread of these news, the residents of Myitkyina township are worried and have to stay alert night and day.
The Military Council also issued an order that no one is allowed to go outside between 10:00 PM to 4:00 AM in Myitkyina. According to a former ward administrator, anyone who goes outside during the time of martial law was ordered to be shot at sight.
