There have been no confrontations reported between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the State Administration Council (SAC) forces in Shwegu Township, Kachin State. However, local inhabitants assert that the SAC is persistently conducting military operations and is also setting fire to cattle farms belonging to the residents.
Residents have indicated that the SAC forces are persistently conducting military operations along the banks of the Irrawaddy River, where the inhabitants of Shwegu reside. Additionally, they are reportedly abducting and intimidating pedestrians who pass by, using them as human shields.
There has not been a direct confrontation between the SAC forces and the KIA joint forces in Shwegu Township; however, in recent days, both groups have been frequently entering and exiting the homes of local residents. Consequently, residents are being questioned to ascertain whether they have any connections with the KIA/KPDF joint forces.
Residents are expressing concerns regarding their safety in light of the ongoing interrogations, as well as their transportation due to the movements of the military.
