Recently, the SAC has been consistently deploying Y-12 aircraft over Shwegu township, located along the Myitkyina-Mandalay highway in Kachin State, and has conducted airstrikes targeting gold mining sites.

On February 23, at approximately 11:00 p.m., an airstrike conducted by the SAC targeted gold miners engaged in operations along the Ayeyarwady River, situated behind the An Daw Shin Pagoda in Shwegu Township.

A resident reported, “The SAC has stated that they intend to target all individuals engaged in gold mining in various regions. At present, they are intentionally firing upon people and alleging that these gold miners are providing support to the KIA.”

The assault, executed by a Y-12 aircraft, led to the fatality of one civilian gold miner, inflicted serious injuries on seven additional individuals, and caused damage to gold mining machinery.

All gold mining activities along the Ayeyarwady River have ceased since that time. Additionally, there have been regular surveillance flights conducted over Shwegu town, and the SAC has announced plans to carry out airstrikes once more.

The SAC launched an assault on Laiza town yesterday at 2 PM, utilizing three suicide drones. While two of the drones struck near the town, there were no reported injuries.

Residents report that, notwithstanding the recent conflict in Kachin State, the State Administration Council (SAC) has consistently conducted unprovoked assaults on civilian regions using aircraft and drones, leading to civilian injuries and destruction of homes and property.
