Local news reports indicate that several women detained as human shields at the MyoMa Monastery in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region, where clashes have been ongoing, are reportedly being subjected to sexual assault by the SAC.

It has been reported that the women who experienced rape included both married individuals and those with children. Furthermore, it is acknowledged that some women managed to evade the sexual assaults perpetrated by the SAC.

A woman among those who managed to escape recounted, "Ten girls have successfully fled. The majority of the girls who remained at the military camp were subjected to rape by the soldiers. One woman, who had both a child and a husband, was assaulted, and the soldiers inquired of her husband whether he was satisfied with the situation."

Those who are locked up as human shields inside the city monastery are more than 300 women and men. In addition, they have been trapped since the first skirmish which occurred on August 16th. The SAC soldiers were not allowed to leave and were arrested as human shields.

A different woman reported that women who were not part of the CDM were also among those who suffered sexual abuse. She mentioned that individuals detained as human shields were permitted only one meal on certain days. Additionally, she noted that the SAC threatened hungry and crying children with death if they did not cease their crying.

Furthermore, it is reported that the military camps still present in Indaw City are experiencing food shortages, and the livestock belonging to local residents in the vicinity are being slaughtered and consumed by the SAC forces.

The military tension between the SAC forces and the joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and The People’s Defense Forces (PDF) has escalated once more since November 1st in the Kachin-Sagaing border township, an area that had experienced relative calm in armed clashes for nearly a month.

On August 16th, it has been reported that the joint forces of the SAC and PDF engaged in conflict, resulting in the assault and subsequent capture of the SAC military camps situated in Nabar and Nant Thar by the anti-coup armed factions.
