An evacuee reported that on December 1st and 2nd, around noon, the SAC forces entered the IDP camp, where individuals displaced by the conflict are currently residing, and apprehended the camp manager for interrogation.

“At approximately midday, a soldier wearing a bullet-proof vest arrived at the IDP camp and apprehended the camp manager. They reviewed the roster of individuals residing in the camp, assessed the living conditions within the IDP camp, and verified whether any KIAs were entering the premises. Furthermore, they captured photographs of the IDP camp. The camp manager was interrogated and subsequently released,” as reported by an evacuee.

The individual stated that the SAC forces have bolstered their presence on the WaingMaw side and are actively engaged in military operations. Since December 1st, there have been ongoing military activities along the Nawng Hkying road. Furthermore, the displaced individuals express concerns for their safety due to the actions of the SAC military and the interrogations occurring within the IDP camp.

“The evacuees are relocating to Nawng Hkying for their safety. However, currently, Nawng Hkying is no longer secure due to the military operations conducted by the SAC. Approximately seven military vehicles from the SAC forces are stationed along the road leading to Nawng Hkying. There is a growing concern that another evacuation may be necessary. We are uncertain about where to seek refuge, and anxiety is prevalent among everyone,” as expressed by the evacuee.

As a result of the armed conflict that commenced on March 7th, when KIA joint forces initiated their offensive, residents of the villages surrounding WaingMaw town have sought refuge in the safer area of Nawng Hkying. At present, the SAC has established positions along Nawng Hkying Road, leading to concerns among the populace regarding the potential resurgence of hostilities.
