Local sources indicate that SAC forces have increased their presence near Putao Lungsha Yang village and are conducting military operations with greater intensity than previously observed.

A resident of Putao expressed concern that the SAC forces are bolstering their presence in the Putao region and in the vicinity of Longsha Yang village, citing security reasons. This has led to apprehension regarding a potential escalation of military activity in the Putao area.

According to a local resident, “there have been numerous reports indicating an increase in the frequency of interrogations. As we approach the harvest season, concerns have arisen regarding potential conflicts during the rice harvesting process, leading to heightened anxiety among us.”

Currently, individuals traveling from Putao to Longsha Yang are required to register their names and NRC cards with the Personnel of SAC No (46) Infantry Battalion. Local residents have reported that even farm workers face significant challenges in their travels due to the stringent interrogations imposed by the SAC on pedestrians.

Following the occupation of Sumpra Bum town by the joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People's Defense Forces (PDF) in May, the State Administration Council (SAC) has deployed military reinforcements and initiated preparations along the Putao-Myitkyina highway, as well as in the villages of Lungsha Yang and Phatma, with the objective of reclaiming Sumpra Bum town. Furthermore, it has been reported that inspections have become more rigorous in the area.

Local residents have reportedly been evacuating for approximately six months due to the presence of SAC forces stationed in Sumpi Yang village, which is situated along the Myitkyina-Putao highway.
