Recently, the SAC forces have augmented their military presence at Pan Din Bridge, which leads into Hpakant. This development has raised concerns among pedestrians regarding their safety, while local residents are apprehensive that the military situation may escalate.

The location has historically served as the site of the police station. However, in recent days, there has been a noticeable increase in military presence from the SAC, which is actively conducting operations in the surrounding area. This may indicate preparations for potential conflict. Furthermore, local residents report that military personnel are persistently interrogating pedestrians and extorting money from them, according to a resident of Hpakant.

The Pan Din Bridge, located at the entrance of Hpakant, serves as a crucial focal point for the security of the Hpakant SAC’s Brigade, thereby necessitating an enhancement of security measures. At present, the SAC is engaged in excavating trenches around the military encampment. Reports indicate that the SAC may later employ scouts and individuals with substance use issues during skirmishes.

Despite the presence of numerous drug users and drug dealers beneath the Pan Din bridge, where the SAC forces are currently deployed, no actions have been taken to address the situation. It is possible that the SAC may utilize these individuals in their military operations.

The SAC forces additionally exploited drug users to retrieve belongings from civilian residences and compelled them to set fire to these homes during the conflict that occurred at the Seng Tawng Lucky Men Hotel in August.

The SAC has recently augmented its military presence in the Hpakant region and has resumed military operations. As a result, pedestrians are expressing concerns regarding their safety.
