Local residents report that the SAC is engaged in ongoing military operations in Lamung Zup village, located within the Alam village group of Myitkyina town.
A local source reports that the SAC forces presently stationed in the village are establishing checkpoints at various intersections, interrogating pedestrians, and demanding payments from motorists.
It was approximately mid-December of the previous year when I inquired of an individual who was operating a motorcycle equipped with a chainsaw and was traveling from Myitkyina. He mentioned that a fee of 500,000 kyats was required for passage. When he declined to pay, he was subsequently denied access and chose to turn back, as reported by a source.
The SAC forces, numbering approximately 10, have been engaged in military operations within the village since last October, leading to significant concern and caution among the local residents regarding their activities.
