Over 50 acres of local farmland have been devastated by the use of large machinery in gold mining operations by entrepreneurs. Consequently, the residents of Nam Sa Bum Village, within the Tran Dam Village Group, located in Sum Pra Bum Township, are urgently requesting rehabilitation measures for their farmland.
"They've been using large machines to dig for gold in Nam Sa Bum Village for over two months, and the villagers couldn't even voice their objections. However, they all fled when soldiers arrived at the end of last month. The lands surrounding the area they dug have been completely devastated, and the irrigation system has been damaged. Despite our pleas for them to rehabilitate the farmland, they haven't even returned," explained a resident of Nam Sa Bum.
Despite the locals' desire to rehabilitate the gold block areas damaged by gold mining into valleys and reclaim the farmland, it's reported that the entrepreneurs responsible are not locals, but individuals who come from other areas to work.
For nearly two months, more than five entrepreneurs have been conducting gold mining operations with large machinery in Nam Sa Bum Village within the Tran Dam Group.
Since the end of last year, Nam Sa Bum village has gained renown for its solid gold production. Within a short span, the gold mining area became increasingly populated. However, operations were reportedly suspended due to the State Administration Council's (SAC) recruitment process at the end of February.
