According to local residents, following the 0307 operation in which the joint forces of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) executed an offensive and concurrently seized the military camps of the State Administration Council (SAC) as well as militia camps along the Myitkyina-Bhamo highway, rehabilitation efforts for Ja Pu village have commenced.
An official representing Ja Pu village stated that numerous needs remain unaddressed in the rehabilitation efforts for the community. Furthermore, there is an urgent necessity for improvements in the education sector, health facilities, and electricity supply, all of which are critical for the village's development. Consequently, the official is urging the appropriate government authorities to assume responsibility for these issues.
The local inhabitants of Ja Pu village have been evacuating since 2011, following the onset of skirmishes. Furthermore, they have made numerous attempts to return to their homeland since 2020; however, the ongoing instability in the political and military situation has rendered resettlement challenging.
As a consequence of the operation initiated by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) on March 7 of this year, the military and militia camps of the SAC situated along the Myitkyina-Bhamo highway were seized by KIA forces. Furthermore, the local inhabitants of Ja Pu village have returned to their homeland and are currently engaged in clearing the area for agricultural purposes and resettlement.
Additionally, the initiatives for resettlement in the village have commenced, and it has been reported that the village administrative office was officially opened on October 5th.
Ja Pu village is home to approximately 300 households. Additionally, the residents of Ja Pu village have relocated to regions including Myitkyina, Waingmaw, and the areas of Pajau, Sha It Yang, and Je Yang, which fall under KIO administration, as a result of the ongoing political and military instability.
At present, alongside Ja Pu village, it has been reported that other villages, including Namsan village, Bandaung village, Nawgu village, Ban Sau village, Dabat Yang village, Kazu village, and Gara Yang village, are also in the process of returning to their homelands.
