It is reported that, the local residents who live in the villages near Loije Town are facing difficulties and shortage of rice and foods due to the long-term period closure of Bhamo-Loije highway.
At present, one sack of rice has risen 280 to 300 Chinese Yuan and 200,000 to 250,000 Myanmar kyats. Additionally, the other basic food items, such as cooking oil, salt, onion, garlic and chilly has risen triple from the previous price.
In addition to the current skyrocketing price of goods, there are also difficulties in having paid job due to the present unstable political situation.
Despite most of the local residents of Loije area do corn and sugarcane farming for their living, they are worried that the yields of the corn and sugarcane this year will decrease than the previous year due to the difficulties in buying fertilizers for the farm.
As consequence, the local residents of the Loije area are reported to be facing difficulties not only because of the skyrocketing prices of the goods, but also because of the goods scarcity in the region. In addition, most of the goods in Loije area are only imported from the China.
