The Myanmar Passport Issuing Board declared on October 11th that the issuance of passports will recommence on October 14th in Myitkyina town. This process had been halted due to the disruption of phone signals and internet services in Kachin State.

In the statement, it is stated that " individuals with an online appointment for passport processing were previously served at the Yangon office and the Mandalay branch office. However, effective October 14, processing will be exclusively conducted at the Myitkyina branch office. Consequently, eligible household members may submit their passport applications at the Myitkyina branch office along with the specified documents."

The issuance of passports at the Myitkyina branch office has been suspended since July 21st, following the disruption of all phone signals and internet connections in Kachin State.

After that, the residents of Kachin State who wanted to make passports had to go to Yangon and Mandalay and apply for a passport.

The SAC implemented an online booking system for scheduling appointments through a QR code for passport applications on March 21, 2022. Nevertheless, all operations were temporarily suspended on December 5th.

Moreover, the online passport booking system was reactivated in 2023 and commenced operations on May 1st, 2024.
