The conflict between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA/KPDF) joint forces and the SAC forces remains intense in Kachin State. Reports indicate an increase in civilian casualties and injuries in recent days as a result of the SAC’s heavy artillery and aircraft bombardments in areas without skirmishes.
On June 2nd, around 4:00 PM, the bridge over Dabak creek, connecting Tarlawgyi and Bosadi villages in Waingmaw township, was bombed by SAC aircraft without any skirmish.

Similarly, around 12:20 AM on June 1st, an 8-year-old boy was killed and seven civilians were injured by the SAC’s aircraft bombardment on Myo Kone General Hospital in Shwegu Town, Bhamo District.
The indiscriminate heavy artillery and aircraft bombardment by the SAC in non-combat areas has led to injuries and deaths of innocent civilians. Additionally, on May 31st, a residential house in Lamyang village, Waingmaw township, was destroyed by SAC artillery.
According to an RFA survey, between January and May 2024, 662 civilians have died and 1,492 have been injured due to the SAC’s heavy artillery and aircraft bombardment.
