As said by the local residents, the Myitkyina-Hpakant road was closed indefinitely on April 9 due to armed-clashes between the two armed-groups, and was reopened on April 16 morning.
It is reported that, last April 9, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked the SAC’s No (120) battalion stationed in Hpakant NamYa village, and the roads were closed due to the intense clashes between the two armed-groups.
In addition, on April 11th, the KIA was able to attack and control it completely and it has been reported that the controlled area has been cleared continuously for 7 days, and today the road between Myitkyina and Hpakant was reopened.
