It has been reported that the SAC forces in the Putao District, particularly at the military base of the 46th Infantry Battalion, have been bolstering their troop presence. In addition, the local residents are expressing concerns that the ongoing skirmishes may escalate as military operations are carried out from Putao to Sumprabum.

According to a car driver from Mulashidi Ward, “The military personnel from both the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the State Administration Council (SAC) have been observed along the Putao-Myitkyina highway in recent days. Additionally, a significant presence of SAC troops has been noted in Sum Pi Yang Village, alongside numerous anti-coup armed forces positioned nearby. The individual expressed a strong belief that a confrontation is imminent.”

Currently, as the harvesting season for upland rice approaches for the local community, there are concerns among the residents regarding the potential challenges they may encounter in the event of a conflict.

The present circumstances indicate that a skirmish in the Sum Pi Yang region is imminent. Observations reveal that both armed forces are making extensive preparations for the impending conflict. Once hostilities commence, all villages situated along the Putao-Myitkyina highway will face significant challenges, particularly as the rice paddies remain unharvest, as stated by the aforementioned individual.

During the period of more than 5 months that the locals of (3) villages from the Sum Pi Yang group have sought refuge due to ongoing skirmishes. During this time, the SAC forces have occupied and fortified their presence in the homes and churches of these villages. Meanwhile, over 200 personnel from the SAC's 46th Infantry Battalion, based in Putao city, are in the process of completing their military training.
