Local news reports indicate that following nearly a month of intense conflict in the Hpakant-Seng Tawng village, the KIA joint forces successfully launched a comprehensive assault and captured the SAC military camp located at the Lucky Men Hotel in Seng Tawng village during the early hours of October 8th.
During the Skirmish of Seng Tawng, KIA forces captured numerous war prisoners along with various small and heavy weapons. Furthermore, the aforementioned news source reported that determining the precise number of casualties from the skirmish remains challenging.
The military tension between the two armed-forces has been on the rise since September 4th. Furthermore, the KIA joint forces initiated an offensive against the SAC forces located in the Hpakant area and at the Lucky Men Hotel in Seng Tawng, which is situated six miles from Hpakant, beginning on September 7th. Consequently, the KIA joint forces successfully captured the aforementioned SAC military camps on October 8th.
The KIA joint forces took control of the Hpakant Police Station on September 12th. Additionally, as clashes persisted in the Seng Tawng village, over 30 civilians lost their lives, and nearly 40 homes were set ablaze as a result of the SAC's aerial strikes and indiscriminate fire from heavy weaponry.
Over 6,000 residents have been evacuated to safety as a result of the escalating conflicts in the Hpakant-Seng Tawng area. Furthermore, these evacuees continue to face urgent and critical shortages of basic food, essential supplies, and medical assistance.
