Local residents have indicated that the Ko Kant Army, recognized as the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), which governs Lashio city in Northern Shan State, has indefinitely severed phone and internet services since October 1st.
According to reports from Chinese media, the Ko Kant Army (MNDAA) has disrupted all telephone signals and internet services in response to the ongoing airstrikes by the SAC on Lashio city. In addition, this action aims to prevent the disclosure of their locations and to evade detection by the SAC.
A local resident of Lashio reported that all phone signals have been disrupted. Previously, there were signals from MPT, Atom, and Mytel accessible in certain areas, but currently, no operators are available, and heavy rain continues to fall.
The MNDAA and allied forces commenced their assault on Lashio on July 3rd, successfully capturing the city, including the SAC’s regional command, by July 25th. Following this takeover, phone signals were restored for a duration exceeding two months while under MNDAA control. However, these signals have been disrupted once more.
Due to the disruption of all phone signals, individuals who have lost communication with their families remaining in Lashio are experiencing significant concern. In response to this situation, the Freedom Youth Volunteers (FTV) organizations are working to facilitate access to the Internet for the affected residents.
Additionally, the SAC continued its aerial bombardment of Lashio, which is under the control of the Ko Kant Army (MNDAA), with airstrikes persisting until September 30th. Throughout September, the city experienced over 10 airstrikes, and these attacks have continued into October, with reports indicating ongoing strikes as of October 4th.
