As reported by the evacuees, nearly 1,000 evacuees from the Labang Kahtawng IDP camp and the Mali Yang IDP camp in Waing Maw Township are in urgent need of food, blankets, and warm clothing.
The evacuees are in urgent need of warm clothing, blankets, nutritious food, and medicines due to the severe weather conditions and the onset of winter.
The evacuees from Labang Kahtawng village include over 600 individuals from Aung Myay (1), Aung Myay (2), and Shwe Nyaung Pin villages, who were trapped as a result of the Kachin Independence Army's offensive on March 7th, and more than 100 evacuees from Wu Yang village fled due to skirmishes that took place in early April. Furthermore, nearly 200 evacuees from Ja Pu village are currently residing in the internally displaced persons camp located near the Irrawaddy River Bank, where they are in urgent need of blankets and warm clothing to protect against the cold winds coming from the river.
The duration of the evacuation has been extensive, resulting in the depletion of the medicines and food supplies that accompanied it. Although there is a strong desire among the evacuees to return to their hometowns, the prevailing political instability poses significant challenges to their repatriation.
