The Hka Nan Evacuees Who Evacuated To Lamyang Region, Waingmaw Township, Are In Dire Need Of Foods And Medical Supplies

It is reported that the IDPs from Hka Nan who evacuated to Lamyang village in Waingmaw Township are suffering sore throat, malaria and dengue fever in this season. However, the medical supplies and food which foremost require have been scarcity in the village and it is known that they are solving the problem of dire needs of foods and medical supplies by asking from another nearby villages.


According to an evacuee, “There are many people suffering from malaria within these days. I was also feeling unwell for a week because of the malaria in previous days. In addition, the sore throat disease follow-up after suffering malaria. Some evacuees went and received medical treatment at Waingmaw General Hospital in their own way. There are also numerous numbers of people who have received medical treatment by themselves without going to the hospital.”


The local residents from Hka Nan village mostly do farming for their living. Moreover, they evacuated to safety due to the intensified military situation and it is said that they are in urgent need of food supplies at the present.


“The Social Relief Association can’t go to the armed-tension areas. So, as the military situation in our area is escalating, there aren’t any Social Relief Association who give a hand to us. If they come, they’ll be in blacklist. In addition, the Social Relief Association told us to relocate to the places where they have access to and could support assistances. However, it is difficult to relocate from the place where we are currently residing to other places again.


Additionally, as the households which urgently require food supplies are increasing within these days. So, we asked help to the locals from Mang Shang village, and they helped us with four sacks of rice. We don’t have any idea on how we are going to survive after the rice, which Mang Shang locals gave us, are gone,” said the above local.


It is stated that the local residents from the Waingmaw township are unable to do farming and agribusiness in this year due to the armed-clashes which are occurring in the region. Furthermore, the locals’ concerns have arisen as the duration of the armed-conflict extends.


The military situation between the KIA joint forces and the SAC-Militia joint forces which is stationed in Wu Yang and nearby villages is still tense. In addition, as said by the local residents, there are heavy artilleries firing indiscriminately by the SAC forces in the area frequently.
