It is reported that the highway from MyitSone (Tang Hpre Village) to Tayang Zup Village which is located 28 miles far from the North of Myitkyina has been closed indefinitely by the SAC in 1st August.

According to local residents, the military base camp stationed in N Sawp and Tayang Zup Village has been doing military operation. Thus, it is known that they have blocked not only Tang Hpre -Tayang Zup highway but also the water-course indefinitely.

As a consequence, the cargo trucks, the passenger vehicles and many local travelers are stuck on the way and are not allowed to pass through.

As said by a car driver, “the passenger car drivers can mostly travel one round trip from Myitkyina to Njang Yang in a day before. But since yesterday, the car driver who came to Myitkyina stuck in NjangYang village because of the Tang Hpre-Tayang Zup highway. I don’t have an idea when will they come to Myitkyina back.”

The Tang Hpre-Tayang Zup highway has been closed since the beginning of July due to the N Sawp bridge which damaged because of the flood. Since then, the locals only used the water-course for transportation, but the water-course was also closed since yesterday.

The Myitkyina-Sumprabum-Putao highway was closed for more than 3 months due to the military tension between the two armed-forces. Consequently, the prices of goods were skyrocketing in the areas. In addition, the highway was opened temporarily after June 10th.

The Myitsone (Tang Hpre), Njang Yang and N Sawp are the villages which are situated on the highway of Myitkyina-Sumprabum.
