UNHCR has delivered vital resources to around 6,500 individuals residing in 16 internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Kachin State, where those affected by the ongoing conflicts in Myanmar are currently taking refuge.


UNHCR, along with partner organizations, has been actively engaged in efforts to secure the safety and enhance the living conditions of around 6,500 evacuees. This includes repairing shelters, improving access to potable water, installing solar lighting, and offering various forms of assistance.


At present, as a result of the armed-conflict between the State Administration Council (SAC) and the anti-coup armed forces, numerous individuals from Kachin, Shan, Rakhine, and Karen states have been compelled to leave their residences throughout the nation.


A report from Data for Myanmar indicates that more than 100,000 civilian residences were destroyed by fire during the three-year military coup in Myanmar.


Many Chin refugees from Myanmar residing in Malaysia are confronting an uncertain future following the directive from US President Donald Trump to suspend refugee admissions. Additionally, reports indicate that the UNHCR has ceased conducting interviews with Chin refugees at the RCS.


In Bhamo, the secondary capital of Kachin State, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) coalition persists in executing intense offensive operations, while the State Administration Council (SAC) continues to deploy aerial bombardments, drones, and heavy artillery, compelling numerous civilians to evacuate.
