The Bala Min Tin Bridge, which crosses the Irrawaddy River connecting Myitkyina and Waingmaw township, was indefinitely closed by the State Administration Council (SAC) on November 21st at approximately 8:00 AM. As a result, numerous local residents found themselves stranded on either side of the bridge. Those affected by the closure reported that it has become challenging for travelers to make their way back home.

According to a resident who was stuck at the bridge, "The SAC indicated that there is an issue on the other side of the bridge. However, they did not specify what the problem entails. Initially, the Maina side of the bridge was closed, followed by the subsequent closure of the Myitkyina side. I am uncertain when it will be reopened."

A different resident remarked that, "On the previous day, following the KIA's takeover of the border town of Kanpaik Ti, the gas stations in the area were shut down, and currently, the bridge is also closed. The shutdown of both the gas stations and the bridge may be connected to the KIA's capture of Kanpaik Ti."

The SAC has reportedly closed the Bala Min Tin Bridge unexpectedly, creating challenges for travelers attempting to return to the opposite side. Some individuals who were trapped have returned to reside with friends and family, while those without housing are awaiting the reopening of the bridge.

On the Myitkyina side, an estimated 400 to 500 individuals were stranded on both sides of the Bala Min Tin Bridge, awaiting its reopening at 2:00 PM on November 21st. Local residents reported that a greater number of people chose to turn back rather than remain in wait.

Individuals queuing in line are those without shelter on the side of the bridge where they have become stranded. Furthermore, the local residents are experiencing challenges due to the indefinite closure of the Hkat Cho ferry port, which previously facilitated river transportation to Myitkyina-Hkat Cho, a service that was recently suspended by the SAC.
