According to local reports, the committee has been distributing large quantities of rice and fuel at affordable prices to ease the burden on the Putao community following the sharp rise in commodity prices.

"Our goal is to allow people with modest incomes to purchase rice and fuel at fair prices. Currently, diesel, gasoline, and sacks of rice are available for sale at the Rawang Cultural Field in Duttan Ward, Putao. While the project began in early August, transportation challenges have slowed progress. We are also working to increase our support for the community in the coming days," a committee official stated.

Formed by seven organizations representing congregations and ethnic groups in Putao Township, the Civil Society Cooperation Committee is actively supporting the community’s essential needs and working to stabilize a market marked by high prices and unregulated manipulation.

The committee, established in June, has now begun its operations in Putao, fostering cooperation between civil society groups, government bodies, and donors.

To aid those struggling the most, 1,000 jerrycans of diesel and 2,000 sacks of rice were delivered to Putao town in the last week of September and are now available for purchase at affordable prices.

Due to ongoing instability between two armed groups, the Myitkyina-Putao highway has been blocked since the start of the year, leading to a sharp increase in prices. Residents, as reported by Mali-Hku, continue to face shortages of essential goods.
