The Car Drivers Are Facing Difficulties Due To Road Destruction In Laiza-Mai Ja Yang Highway

It is known that the Laiza-Mai Ja Yang highway which is located in the KIO controlled area is destructed by the continuous rainfalls and the local are facing difficulties in transportation.


The highway is reported to damage due to the landslides and the continuous rainfalls since July. Consequently, car drivers in the area have to travel difficultly.


As said by a car driver, “In the previous months, the journey from Laiza to Mai Ja Yang just took 6 hours on the way. But currently it takes at least 10 hours on the way and sometime the travelers have to stay overnight on the way.”


The highway between Dum Bum IDP camp in Laiza and Nhkawng Pa IDP camp in Mai Ja Yang was destructed by the heavy and continuous rainfalls. Moreover, it is the main highway which is connected Laiza and Mai Ja Yang.


As stated by the local residents, even though the locals want the related government officials to repair the destructed road, the officials have not yet been taken any action on it. As a consequence, the locals have to travel difficultly until today.
