Border sources indicate that the border crossings managed by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in Kachin State have resumed operations as of the morning of December 13.

On December 8, a delegation headed by KIA/KIO Chairman Nban La traveled to China for discussions, following an invitation from the Chinese central government. The Chinese authorities commenced the reopening of certain border gates yesterday. Additionally, this morning, the KIO government reopened the Laiza, Mai Ja Yang, and Loi Je border gates, as reported by Kachin news sources.

A resident of Pang Wa reported that, although certain border gates under the control of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) have been opened, the Kanpaik Ti and Pang Wa border gates remain closed. Since the offensive commenced on March 7, the KIA and its allied forces have taken control of multiple towns and border gates in Kachin State, including several military camps belonging to the State Administration Council (SAC).

In the course of the conflict in Kachin Special Region (1), which commenced in the final week of September, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) joint forces successfully took control of the entire region, encompassing the Pang Wa and Kanpaik Ti border gates along the Chinese border. Following the closure of these border gates by Chinese authorities due to the ongoing skirmish, they were reopened on December 13. Since this morning, both goods and individuals have been transiting through the Laiza border gate.
