The State Administration Council (SAC) has announced an extension of its temporary ceasefire from April 23 to 30 to facilitate ongoing rehabilitation efforts for victims of the March 28 earthquake. This follows their initial ceasefire declaration from April 2 to 22.
While the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) government had previously agreed to suspend defensive operations during the initial ceasefire period, neither the National Unity Government (NUG) nor the KIO government has yet issued an official response to this latest extension.
Despite SAC's declared ceasefire from April 2-22, their forces continued aerial bombardments, artillery strikes, and drone attacks across multiple locations in Kachin State, including Bhamo Township.
