SAC’s personnel have been forcing locals residing near the intersection to go to Kyarrapati (A) and Nam Jim to leave the area since August 10, as they are going to station their military camp in that area, according to the locals.
“This intersection is the main route for the locals. The locals use this route to go to their farms and fields. It will be difficult for the locals if the military are to be stationed in the area. Even before they did not station their camp, we felt frightened and concerned as there were frequent inspections from them,” said elder currently residing.
Locals are assuming that, it might be the reason that they are preparing to station a military camp in the intersection and forcing locals residing near the area to move but there is still no military camp stationed in that area yet.
In that intersection, there were frequent inspections upon the pedestrians by the SAC’s personnel in the precious couple years.
Locals residing near that intersection are making a living by opening teashop, pull-in mini barbecue restaurant and betel chewing shop as well as other green and commodities market and are forced to move away from that intersection with the behest from the SAC’s personnel since August 10, 2024 and almost all of the locals from the areas have left the place.
Locals are concerning upon the fact that the SAC is preparing to station a military camp near the intersection where the locals are residing in time of current political situation when armed conflicts between SAC’s forces and KIA/KPDF joint forces are intensifying in some of the townships of Kachin State and a rumor that has been spreading in the region there will be armed conflicts in Myitkyina town.
