It has been reported that the State Administrative Council (SAC) discharged heavy artillery in the WaingMaw region of Kachin State without any preceding clashes.

According to local residents, the SAC artillery camp located in Myitkyina Town and the No. 58 SAC battalion stationed in WaingMaw Town fired heavy artillery more than 30 times at approximately 9:00 PM on July 10th.

The locals believe that the artillery stationed in Myitkyina targeted LaMyang Village and NamWa Village, while the No. 58 SAC battalion in WaingMaw Town fired towards HkaShi village, AungMyay (1) village, AungMyay (2) village, and Shwe Nyaung Pin village.

It is important to note that the residents of Myitkyina and WaingMaw are currently grappling with severe flooding issues. While many local residents and evacuees from the conflict zones are struggling to find adequate shelter, the SAC’s indiscriminate heavy artillery fire in the WaingMaw area is exacerbating the situation.

Furthermore, it is estimated that over 20 civilians lost their lives, and more than 30 were injured due to heavy artillery shelling by the SAC in the WaingMaw region during May and June.
