A 48-year-old male individual unfortunately lost his life in a tragic incident involving a landmine detonation near the 74th Infantry Battalion in Mogaung. The incident occurred on March 26th at approximately 3:00 PM within Kachin State. Local residents have expressed concern as this marks the second incident of its kind within the past month.

The deceased individual was in close proximity to the 74th Infantry Battalion when the landmine detonated. It is also worth noting that on March 2nd, a 16-year-old female student, currently enrolled in the 9th grade, suffered a severe injury while herding cattle. The unfortunate incident resulted in the amputation of her leg due to a landmine explosion.

Despite the recurring incidents of landmine explosions near the military base camp, it is concerning that there is an absence of warning signs or notifications for the local population. Residents have emphasized that there have been two separate instances of landmine explosions within the span of a month.

It has been reported that the State Administration Council (SAC) is attempting to suppress news regarding landmine explosions in the Mogaung region. A 16-year-old girl, a ninth-grade student, was severely injured in a landmine explosion, yet no news outlets have covered the incident. Furthermore, there is a lack of warning signs in the affected areas, and the SAC has refused to release the body of an individual killed in a landmine explosion yesterday, allowing the family to view the body only before cremation.

According to a close relative of the deceased, the body was briefly taken to the Mogaung Hospital for a post-mortem examination but was not subsequently released to the family. They were only permitted to see the body prior to burial.

In a separate incident, a 16-year-old female student sustained severe injuries, including the amputation of a leg, due to a landmine explosion on March 2. She is currently receiving treatment at the Myitkyina Military Hospital.
