Local residents report that the Putao-Khao Lan Phu road has been damaged by severe weather, making it impassable for both motorcycles and cars. Currently, the journey from Putao to Khaung Lan Phu, which once took just a day, now takes a week on foot, causing significant difficulties for the locals.

The damage to the roads and bridges, caused by heavy rains last June, has not yet been repaired. This has made travel extremely challenging for residents in the region.

A local religious leader shared, "Traveling to Khaung Lan Phu has become very difficult. The roads and mountains have collapsed in many areas, making it impossible to drive cars or motorcycles. Now, we can only go as far as Dahap Village by motorbike. It takes two nights of travel to reach the SanLutChat valley road, and around a week to get to Khaung Lan Phu. Transporting goods from Putao to Khaung Lan Phu is nearly impossible."

Residents recall that the road, which spans over 100 miles and was built in 2022, used to make the journey from Putao to Khaung Lan Phu a one-day trip. However, the current damage has made it too difficult for vehicles to pass, forcing people to walk, which takes a week.

At present, only the road to Dahap village, located before Khaung Lan Phu, is accessible by motorcycles and cars. Due to the roadblock, goods from Putao have not reached Khaung Lan Phu for three months. Furthermore, imports from the Chinese border have also ceased.

"The import of goods from China has stopped, causing significant hardships for the local residents," added the religious leader.

Khaung Lan Phu residents confirm that the roads remain unrepaired, making travel difficult and creating a scarcity of essential goods in the area.
