Pope Francis, Who Served 12 Years as Catholic Leader, Passes Away

Pope Francis passed away this morning at 7:35 AM at the Vatican Palace in Rome at the age of 88.

The Pope had been hospitalized last month due to pneumonia and, after his health condition stabilized, returned to live at the Vatican Palace. He died today, April 21, two weeks after being discharged from the hospital.

Pope Francis had served as the head of the Catholic Church since 2013, leading for 12 years.

Pope Francis was the first pontiff to visit Myanmar, traveling to Yangon in November 2017 to offer prayers.
