Passports Now Available for Online Application

The Myanmar Passport Agency has announced that passport applications can now be submitted online, effective from May 1st.


Starting May 2nd, residents of Myitkyina and other States and Regions will utilize the Online Appointment System, allowing passport applicants to schedule appointments from approximately 9:00 AM on May 1st.


Online booking is reported to be easily accessible without time constraints, with fees payable according to the prescribed rates.


According to an agent from Myitkyina, residents can apply for passports online starting May 2nd, with fees set at 35,000 kyats for new passports, 35,000 kyats for passport renewals, and up to 91,000 kyats for replacements due to loss.


The State Administration Council (SAC) introduced the online booking system for passport applications, utilizing QR codes and appointment scheduling, on March 21, 2022. However, all processes were temporarily halted on December 5th.


Since February 24, 2023, online passport applications have resumed, including in Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Bago, and Pathein. Moreover, many other States and Regions, in addition to those previously mentioned, will adopt the Online Appointment System starting May 2, 2024.
