In Myitkyina city, the price of gasoline has surged to 7,300 kyats per liter following a September 26th ban on vehicles transporting fuel from Kanpaikti, near the Chinese border, to Myitkyina via the Bala Minhtin Bridge. However, since October 4th, some fuel trucks have been permitted to pass through.

"Initially, only diesel tankers were allowed to cross the bridge, while trucks carrying diesel in jerry cans were prohibited. But recently, they’ve started allowing both gasoline and diesel tankers, as well as vehicles carrying fuel in jerry cans, under the supervision of their affiliated authorities," explained a resident living near Bala Minhtin Bridge.

Despite the return of fuel trucks, gas prices remain high because most oil suppliers are prioritizing more profitable regions like Hpakant, Tanai, and Putao, where gold and jade mining take place, while sales within the city are minimal.

Additionally, the Mandalay-Indaw-Myitkyina road section has been blocked again, raising concerns among locals that commodity prices could rise even further.
