As reported by a passenger car driver, the passenger buses on the Myitkyina-Mandalay Pyidaungsu highway are still running with the price of 45,000 ks per passenger.
According to Jinghpaw Thu bus agency, “Only Myitkyina to Mandalay exist buses are allowed to go and Mandalay to Myitkyina entry is not allowed. In addition, the two buses from Jinghpaw Thu bus station are going to depart this coming Saturday to Mandalay.”
The Myitkyina-Mandalay highway has been closed and opened frequently due to the unstable military situation and it has been a week since the cargo trucks were not allowed to pass. However, the passenger vehicles which are departed from Myitkyina to Mandalay are still allowed to travel.
At present, only Myitkyina to Mandalay buses are running and it has cost 45,000 ks per passenger to travel. Additionally, as reported by the drivers, Myitkyina-Mandalay Pyidaungsu highway was closed when there are armed clashes and it reopened when the military situation is stable.
