It is reported that the clashes erupted between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and PDF joint forces against the State Administration Council (SAC) on April 22 in Momauk Town, Bhamo District. The SAC reportedly launched airstrikes and heavy artillery attacks, resulting in casualties among the local population and the destruction of residential properties.
At around noon, as the confrontation escalated, three local residents lost their lives, and several others sustained injuries due to airstrikes by SAC jet fighters. One residential building and a Roman Catholic Church suffered damage. Additionally, according to a resident of Hka Nan Ward, more than 10 houses were damaged by heavy artillery.
"A total of three civilians perished in Ah Len Kawng Ward, with the Roman Catholic Church sustaining minor damage from the jet fighter bombardment. One house and a barn were reduced to ashes, along with the unfortunate loss of livestock. Moreover, over 10 residences in Hka Nan Ward were destroyed," reported a local resident.
Residents of Hka Nan Ward have been safely evacuated, although residential properties have suffered damage. Unfortunately, three local residents from Ah Len Kawng Ward lost their lives due to the use of heavy weaponry.
The report indicates that 200 SAC troops from the No (437) Battalion launched a counterattack, resulting in intense clashes in Hka Nan Ward. However, by 3:00 PM, SAC forces withdrew to their camp. Despite a temporary cessation of hostilities, it is known that more than 200 SAC troops are re-entering Momauk Town.
According to the aforementioned resident, "Until this morning, there have been no sounds of weaponry, but reports suggest that SAC forces are returning to the village. I anticipate there will be over 200 forces. The situation is uncertain."
As a result, local residents have been evacuated to safety. Military operations by the SAC persist, and tension remains high between both armed factions.
