According to local residents, SAC forces have been increasing their military presence in various areas, stationing in Myitkyina and intensifying vehicle checks. Pedestrian vehicles are being stopped for interrogation, and nighttime drone patrols have been reported.
A local resident shared, "On September 9, at 9:00 AM, SAC forces, consisting of approximately 10 soldiers, conducted vehicle inspections near Trinity Church in Pa La Na village, about 8 miles from Myitkyina. This location is outside their usual checkpoint area. Vehicles coming from Myitkyina, including cargo trucks, were inspected, although pedestrians were not questioned."
SAC forces frequently set up occasional roadblocks and conduct interrogations on the road leading to Myit Sone. Currently, nearly 30 SAC soldiers are stationed at healthcare centers, schools, and churches in a 10-mile radius, carrying out military operations in the area.
Several SAC military camps were captured by KIA joint forces after an offensive, and SAC is now making various efforts to reclaim them. Military activity in Myitkyina has intensified, with SAC forces stationed outside regular checkpoints in full military gear, stopping vehicles for interrogation, as noted by local residents.
Following reports that KIA joint forces might launch an attack on Myitkyina, military operations have become more fragmented since July 21, when phone and internet services were cut off. SAC forces have been indiscriminately firing heavy artillery and conducting helicopter patrols in suspected areas.
The increased military presence has raised concerns among residents, with some choosing to evacuate to larger cities for safety.
