It is reported that the concerns of local residents have arisen regarding the increasing of Casinos and illegal Slots games in Myitkyina.
The following casinos are and slots games are opened in Sitapru Ward, Rampu Ward, Kachinsu Ward and Kyarapati Ward. In addition, approximately between 300 and 400 gamblers are doing gambling in those casinos per day.
As stated by the local residents, not only the casinos that run before but also new illegal casinos are extended to open by bribing the current authorities.
Therefore, the local residents are increasing anxiety over the current phone signals and internet cut off, and the increased of illegal casinos. Additionally, they are afraid of the thefts and robberies, which are the worst consequences of increasing casinos and gambling houses.
Even though the casinos in Myitkyina area were closed temporarily in 2023 due to the transformations of some of the local government officials, during the period of the phone signals and internet cut off in Myitkyina, all of the illegal casinos were reopened again. Furthermore, more than 10 casinos are reported to be opened in Myitkyina.
Moreover, it is noteworthy that since 2021 when the administration of Myitkyina is completely destroyed, there were lacks of taking action over the illegal casinos and slots games in the region. Additionally, those casinos and slots games in the neighborhoods are neglected by the respective officials.
