Residents of Tanai Township, Kachin State, reported increasing difficulties as local militia forces ramp up recruitment efforts, targeting young people and eligible individuals in the area.
In recent days, militia groups have set up guard posts along main roads and alleyways, stopping pedestrians, detaining young men walking at night, and even conducting house-to-house searches. Locals say these aggressive tactics have created a climate of fear, with some individuals being taken away under suspicion for further questioning.
Meanwhile, in certain neighborhoods near Myitkyina, military council forces have also been carrying out guest list inspections, further heightening concerns among residents.
