“Over 3,000 Dead as Earthquake Toll Continues to Rise”


According to a statement released by military-affiliated news agencies, the death toll from the earthquake that struck on March 28 has surpassed 3,000 as of April 2.


The State Administration Council’s (SAC) latest update, as of 6 PM on April 2, reported 3,003 fatalities, 4,515 injured, and over 350 missing. The disaster has also caused widespread destruction, damaging 21,783 homes, 1,041 schools, government staff housing, administrative buildings, religious structures, and other infrastructure.


International rescue efforts are ongoing, with 1,915 relief workers from 15 countries including China, Russia, India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, UAE, Laos, Belarus, Indonesia, Bhutan, the Philippines, Japan, and Hong Kong assisting in search and recovery operations.
