Meeting of representatives of fish farmers and WorldFish and MFF (Myanmar Fisheries Federation) Kachin office staff

The representatives of Fish farmers and WorldFish and MFF Kachin office staffs had a meeting on December 1st to discuss fish farming in 2023- 2024, at the WorldFish office near the Manaw park, Sitapru Ward, Myitkyina.


“Since 2018, WorldFish and MFF Kachin have collaborated to help fish farmers. It has been 5 years since we have been providing fish, food and technology support. Because the farmers are benefiting, WorldFish will continue to support the project for another 2 years even though the project period has reached 5 years. We want the farmers’ representatives to attend the training without absences,” said Yu Maung, who is the State in charge of WorldFish.


The reason for the meeting with the representatives is to hold an educational training course to be conducted in order to make a method in the selection of fish breeding methods and fish species, for the current fish farmers in January. In order to lead the representatives (farmer to farmer) in that training, the meeting was called to properly attend the pre-educational training for the representatives to be held on the 11th of December, according to MFF Kachin in-charge Mr Aung Naw.



Additionally, Sr Hlaing Nar Aung said, in collaboration with WorldFish and MFF Kachin, fish feed mixing process and technology support started in 2018. It has also been said that they have been able to provide appropriate support. An interview with U Hawng Hu, a fish farmer from Waing Maw “In addition to give us the knowledge to raise fish systematically, we were also given proper fish feed and monthly progress reports, so it was successful and cost-effective.” he said.


And he added, In technical supports, the selection of fish species, fish breeding, fish meal processing and production, the selection and repair of water purification rate status. For the development of natural fish fertilizers, adding lime and manure to the fish ponds and systematic digging of the fish ponds are include.
