A male individual was reportedly the victim of a robbery and assault in Jan Mai Kawng Ward, resulting in critical head injuries. The incident occurred on May 6th at approximately 8:00 PM, as the victim was returning home on his motorcycle. The perpetrators of this act remain unidentified.
As said by a family member of the victim, “He went to meet with his friends. He didn’t come back until late at night, so I called him on the phone, but he didn’t pick up. When I called him again, the phone was turned off. So, I thought he had slept at his friend’s house. But in the early morning, he was found on the street near the house with injuries and was taken to the hospital.”
As per the family members’ account, the stolen items included a motorcycle, mobile phone, wallet, and a ring.
Additionally, the family members reported that the victim departed on a motorbike at approximately 8:30 PM on May 6th. A group of unidentified individuals emerged from a vehicle with its headlights illuminated and struck him on the head with sticks, causing him to lose consciousness and fall onto the roadway.
As relayed by the family members, the individual who was robbed sustained a severe head injury and was subsequently transported to Myitkyina General Hospital for medical attention. The attending physicians have indicated that his condition is critical.
