It has been reported that on the morning of June 17, the military council army severed the section of the road connecting Ake Village and Hparaw Village, located outside Myitkyina City, by digging a hole and cutting off the road. This has made travel difficult for local residents.
This road serves as the primary transportation route for the residents of Ake and Hparaw villages and is also crucial for accessing farming areas in Hparaw, Male, and Hukat villages.
A local resident stated, "That road is the main route. When the army cut it by digging a hole, it became difficult for the locals. Some try to travel by motorbike by filling the hole, but the rain turns the soil into mud, making it even harder. The road was already bad, and now it's worse. It's difficult for them to return to their land."
While some residents attempt to travel by motorbike by filling the hole with soil, it remains challenging for vehicles to pass. The military council's action has significantly impeded travel for the area's residents.
In 2024, there were at least two battles between the Military Council Army and KIA joint forces near Ake Village. In 2023, armed clashes also occurred in Hparaw Village.
